Support COAC
COAC is able to support our Backcountry winter users through community memberships, donations, and business sponsors.
Your donations allow COAC to:
- Pay professionally trained Avalanche forecasters.
Each forecast takes 6-8 hours and it is not all fun skiing in the field. Writing an avalanche forecast involves collecting and analyzing data on current weather conditions, snowpack characteristics, recent avalanche activity, terrain features, on-snow observations and then using that information to assess the overall avalanche danger level, identifying specific avalanche problems, and communicating this information clearly to the public, including where and when the greatest risks exist, along with recommended safety measures to take based on the predicted danger level. - Hold community education events
- Maintaining weather stations on Moon Mountain and Paulina Peak
