Refresh your avalanche search and rescue skills with COAC forecasters on Saturday, Dec. 7! This will be on-the-snow and hands-on practice from the savviest snow folks in town that will benefit you whether you’re a novice or an expert.
COAC forecasters will walk you through signal search, coarse search, fine search, probing, and shoveling.
Have questions on how your transceiver's multi-burial works? Have you tested the transceiver you've had for the last few seasons to see how accurate it is?
Now's your chance to be a better backcountry partner!
SCHEDULE:
10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Group 1 rescue drills
12 p.m. - 1 p.m. Partner meetup and bacon & eggs!
1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Group 2 rescue drills
Please bring your avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel, backpack, and the method you use to travel over snow (backcountry skis, split board, or snowshoes). We will not be going far from the parking lot but depending on the conditions want to avoid postholing.
